Hello and welcome to the Boob Dudes website.  I hope you enjoy reading the articles and hearing other mum’s breastfeeding experiences.  The site is run by a mum of 3 with over 48months (and counting!) of personal breastfeeding experience.  I have been providing mother to mother breastfeeding support for over 7 years through Salford support groups, as well as over the phone and on line.

When I was pregnant with my first baby I thought I would give breastfeeding a go and see how I got on.  After a difficult start I soon came to enjoy breastfeeding and the months quickly passed by.  I thought I would feed for 6 months but breastfeeding was going well and with the support of other mums at my local support group I decided to keep going finally stopping breastfeeding at 14 months.  Baby number 3 has just passed 14 months and we’re still happily feeding.

As I’ve learnt more about breastfeeding, I’ve become more and more passionate that it is the very best start a mother can give to their baby.  But I’ve also become increasingly aware of how much support new mums need. I’ve met hundreds of women over the years and I know that it’s thanks to the support of other mums that they have managed to breastfeed their children.

Despite the many success stories, there is still a huge amount of work to be done,  mums still receive mixed messages about feeding and struggle to work out fact from fiction.  There is a massive pressure on mums to wean too soon, false expectation of when babies should sleep through the night, and too much pressure for mums to fit baby into a fixed routine. Mums are often too scared to follow their mothering instincts when advice they are given doesn’t always seem to match up.  I hope that this site will help you in your breastfeeding journey and to make the parenting decisions that work for you and your family.  Maybe I’ll get to meet you at one of the Salford support groups sometime.
