The BBC reported today that Nutricia has been told that its advertisements were misleading to consumers and therefore illegal. Nutricia trade as both Cow and Gate and Milupa were told to remove advertisement that claimed they could “support the immune system”.

Thrush is a fungus that can cause symptoms in both mum and baby.  It thrives in dark moist environments and can affect nipples and milk ducts.

This artilce appeared in the Telegraph on 20th July:
Michael Kramer, a professor of paediatrics who has advised the World Health Organisation and Unicef, said that much of the evidence used to persuade mothers to breastfeed was out of date.
